American Heritage Credit Union, a $2.8+ billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Commercial Credit Analyst. This position will support the lending activities of the credit union by analyzing the financial information of the commercial member applicant. This analysis should include a review of the financial performance of the proposed business financial information, personal financial information, and overall ability to service the proposed loan request.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform annual credit reviews of existing relationships.
  • Responsible for preparing portfolio reports as required by management.
  • Create internal AMHCU credit memos including a review of the credit memos from Member Business Financial (MBFS) and/or Development Finance Training and Consulting, Inc. (DFTC) for accuracy and completeness. Memos must contain well thought-out written interpretations of the financial data, strengths and weaknesses, and repayment ability of the underlying business borrowers and guarantors. The Credit Analyst must possess the ability to defend these memos verbally in front of the Commercial Lending Manager, CLO, and/or the Commercial Loan Committee.
  • Interpret, review, and analyze financial statements and statement spreads.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of underlying credit requests through balance sheet and income statement analysis, ratio analysis, and traditional cash flow analysis.
  • Perform business peer comparisons.
  • Evaluate and interpret other financial information such as Accounts Receivable and Payable Aging Reports, and inventory lists.
  • Review and evaluate personal federal tax returns and completed personal financial statements.
  • Prepare personal cash flow analysis including personal credit report review and analysis.
  • Prepare collateral analysis to ensure proposed loan request adheres to credit unions member business loan policy.
  • Prepare and interpret detailed rent roll analysis based on leases and supplied income and expense information.
  • Monitor and track compliance with financial specific loan covenants and annual financial statement expirations.
  • Request annual required financial data from member/borrower.
  • Perform annual reviews, including the preparation of an Annual Review-Credit Memorandum according to the credit union's loan policy.

 

 Requirements Include:

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience
  • Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
  • Proficiency in the use of credit analysis software, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of various credit unions' loan policy to be able to adhere to underwriting guidelines and policy requirements.
  • Possess the experience and ability to review commercial and residential appraisals according to federal guidelines.
  • Professional, strong interpersonal skills and techniques essential for interviewing and servicing small business members and communicating with MBFS and other commercial partners, while projecting a positive image as representative of the Credit Union.
  • Knowledge of small business and commercial loan policy, credit granting criteria, interest rates and how they are computed, and required documentation for each type of loan.
