American Heritage Credit Union, a $3.8+ billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Commercial Member Solutions Representative (Collector)! Responsible for the control of delinquent commercial and consumer loan accounts and pending late payment reminders, which includes but is not limited to corresponding with members on delinquent commercial and consumer loan accounts and maintaining accurate records on these accounts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with borrowers for small business, commercial, and consumer loan workouts; Negotiate workout strategies with borrowers; Work closely with VP of Asset Recovery and commercial loan department on default actions.
  • Communicate with commercial and consumer debtors via telephone and written correspondence to attempt to bring resolution to unpaid accounts; Provide thorough, efficient, and accurate account updates on computer files for each call made to debtors.
  • Counsel delinquent account debtors to assist in finding funds to meet debt obligations; Provide financial counseling to members when needed or requested.
  • Prepare a detailed report of each delinquent account.
  • Prepare and present to Senior Management well written comprehensive workout strategies to ensure optimal loss mitigation to the credit union while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements; Evaluate and implement necessary actions to secure and protect properties against loss; Assist with reviewing and preparing loan modification recommendations; Review, prepare, and submit settlement recommendations.
  • Work with the credit union's commercial and consumer lending departments and the service company to determine collection and/or recovery solutions; Review potential problem loans and concerns with commercial lending officers and staff and provide guidance to ensure proper resolution.
  • Evaluate financial information, collateral, legal documentation, lien priority, borrower's financial management team, business plan and other information to project probable maximum loss exposure to the credit union.
  • Actively manage loans in bankruptcy and receivership; Monitor discharges of chapter 7 bankruptcy filings and take actions as needed on the credit union's secured mortgage, commercial or vehicle loans; Review chapter 13 bankruptcy filings and plans, file proofs of claim (POC), monitor plans, and take immediate action on defaulted plans.
  • Apply loan payments to delinquent loans; Apply trustee payments accurately; Calculate and correct payments for error corrections on loan accounts.
  • Demonstrate effective skip tracing techniques by locating debtor home phone number, address, and/or place of employment and process accounts for legal action.
  • Monitor delinquency trends; Provide the VP of Asset Recovery with delinquency trends that may result in change of lending guidelines; Create daily, weekly and monthly strategies that would enhance collection and loss mitigation efforts and effectively reduce delinquency and prevent charge-off's; Make recommendations to implement improved processes and develop strategies to assist in increasing recoveries internally and with external vendors; Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas needing improvement.
  • Monitor pre- and post-foreclosure matters; Submit sheriff sale upset bid recommendations.
  • Assist with liquidation of real estate owned (REO) properties, commercial real estate, vehicles and all other assets secured by the loan.


  • Three to five years of experience in commercial/small business collections, loan workouts, and/or commercial lending.
  • Proven experience with the following: Special assets, real estate laws, SBA loans, delinquency procedures, claim submissions.
  • Proven knowledge of loan workout techniques, polices, procedures and principals of lending required.
  • Proven ability to independently manage an assigned portfolio of workout loans.
  • Work requires some knowledge of credit union collection policies and procedures, business acumen, cross-functional competence.
  • Knowledge of all applicable collection laws and regulations preferred.
  • Must be flexible and available to work evening and Saturday hours.
