American Heritage Credit Union, a $4 billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Risk Management Analyst. This position works with various credit union departments to identify and mitigate risks. Support the evolution of the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) program by providing insight to emerging risk throughout the credit union, with a specific focus on reducing risk across the organization. Act as a contributor for developing and maintaining trend analyses and summary reports to provide management with insight on the status of risk.


  • Work with various levels of management to analyze and identify potential risks that are affecting the credit union.
  • Assist in the design, deployment and implementation of a risk management program, including updating the necessary department policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of risk-related training programs as needed.
  • Propose possible solutions, programs and protocols for minimizing risk and liability.
  • Review systems and processes to determine effectiveness of controls and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide management with a risk analysis for any changes that are needed. Risk analyses should include inherent risk, mitigating controls, residual risk, probability and impact.
  • Assist with identifying financial and non-financial (Information Technology) risks for new products and services. Provide recommendations to management to include potential risk exposure, monetary and non-monetary (i.e. reputation, credibility etc.).
  • Assist with fraud research and report on findings as needed.
  • Help build a culture of compliance and risk through knowledge sharing and training as needed.
  • Demonstrate thorough and fair practices in all investigations and inquiries.
  • Resolve complaints, questions, and problems promptly. In situations where the solution is unclear, seek directions from supervisor immediately.


  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of risk management experience with applicable knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to banking industry.
  • Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).
  • Risk management certification is a plus.
  • Some operational experience in the financial industry.
  • General understanding of laws and regulations relevant to banking industries, such as National Credit Union Association (NCUA), Office of the Controller of the Currency (OCC), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to learn and understand credit union movement, products and services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, attention to details, commitment to quality and accuracy.
